On Tuesday, Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos revealed that he would step down as the CEO of the company. In the third quarter of this year, Bezos will take over as the executive chairman. However, Andy Jassy, the president of Amazon’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud division, will take over as Amazon’s new CEO. Bezos told his team in an email about his choice to step down as CEO.
Bezos said that in his message, he plans to concentrate on new products and projects. He remains the main Amazon shareholder, but he will still have a lot of influence over the company after standing down as CEO. For the third year in a row, Jeff Bezos led Forbes’ list of richest Americans in September 2020. With a rise of $5.22 billion in a single day, his net worth has now reached $202 billion. Tesla supremo Elon Musk, however, toppled Bezos this year to become the wealthiest person in the world. Today, Elon Musk’s net worth approached 195 billion dollars, and Bezos stood at 185 billion.
